Introduction to (SAWAS)


 

SAWAS (Sarawak Alternative Water Supply) is an initiative of the Sarawak government, through the Ministry of Utilities Sarawak to provide water supply to isolated settlements that have yet to have safe and clean water. The implementation of SAWAS is one of medium towards achieving Sarawak's vision of 100% water supply coverage by 2025.

Piped water to these remote areas would take many years and SAWAS is a stop gap to provide basic amenities in term of safe and clean water.

As part of the mission and vision of JBALB Sarawak to;

  • Appropriate proposed water supply system for different characteristics of raw water source
  • System suitable for operation and maintenance by local communities.
  • System preferably using gravity to minimize power requirements and no or minimal need for chemicals and pumping.
  • Operation and maintenance training will be given within competence of local community.

Package 1:

Ulu pandan covering Rh. Uncha, Rh. Banta, Rh. Sunam Ak Una, Rh. Kaya Ak Paji and Rh. Renang.

Package 2:
Long Seridan and Long Peluan, Miri; Kalampun, Limbang.

Package 3:
Rh. Untat, Sg. Melipis, Kapit; Rh. Ninting, Ng. Jambu, Lubok Antu, Sri Aman; Kpg. Belantak, Limbang.

Package 4:
Kpg Semah

Package 5:
Kpg Penasu, Muara Lebaan, Rh. Chochok, Rh. Manggong, Rh. Amoi, Rh. Minang
